- "Look What We Have Done," the new show at the Columbus Learning Center, is a diverse assortment of works by eight artists who have all graduated from Herron School of Art and have some connection to the ten-county area served by Indiana University-Purdue University at Columbus.
- The artists represented boast a wide range of media, techniques, and aesthetic approaches, as well as ages. Their graduation dates range from 1945 to the late 2000s

- Robert Hay-Smith was born in London, England and has had a fascinating career in the entertainment industry. He was a member of The New Vaudeville Band, whose songs include the worldwide No. 1 hit “Winchester Cathedral.”

- An international Steinway artist, Palmer has performed at venues throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. He also has appeared on National Public Radio and public television in the United States and on radio and television broadcasts in China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Spain.
- As a chamber musician, Palmer has performed with the Paris Conservatoire, Metropolitan Opera Company, and St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.

- Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin will sponsor its second annual “Run for the Ivy” event for the public from 6:30 until 10:30 pm in the Community Building at the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds.
- Tickets are $40 per person, $75 per couple, and $300 per table of eight.
- All proceeds will support scholarships and programs for Ivy Tech-Columbus/Franklin students.
- Patterned after the annual Derby Day races, Run for the Ivy will involve video-taped races with renowned announcers.

Empty Bowls Dinner January 29, 2011 |

- The 13th annual Empty Bowls Dinner, a fundraiser for local food banks, will feature the musical group Straight No Chaser;
- Dinner served from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Central Middle School.
- Cost for the music and all you can eat soup, bread, and beverage is $10 for adults and $3 for children under 10. Desserts will be available for an additional $2, and for $20 a handmade keepsake bowl is included. Empty Bowls raises money for Love Chapel, Eastside Community Center and food banks in Hope and at Human Services Inc.
- Straight No Chaser, a popular Indiana University men’s a capella group, will perform at 6:30 pm. The group is not the same as the one touring and appearing in Las Vegas, but members of this younger group often end up performing and touring with the original Straight No Chaser alumni after graduating.
